Jill Walker, Ph.D.
Licensed Pediatric Neuropsychologist

Hi, I'm Dr. Jill Walker — and I'm so glad you're here.

If you've found your way to this page, chances are you have questions about your child — and you're looking for someone who will truly listen, look carefully, and help you understand what's going on. That's exactly what I'm here for.

I'm a pediatric neuropsychologist, which means I specialize in understanding how children's brains learn, process information, and develop — and what happens when that process looks a little different. Whether your child is struggling in school, recently had a concussion, has been told they might have ADHD or a learning disability, or you're just not sure what's going on, I'm here to help you find answers.

I completed my doctoral training in Clinical Child Psychology at the University of Alabama — one of the nation's leading APA-accredited programs — and then pursued specialized fellowship training in Pediatric Neuropsychology at Columbia University Medical Center and New York-Presbyterian Hospital, one of the world's foremost academic medical centers. There, I worked with children and adolescents facing significant academic and developmental challenges, conducting comprehensive evaluations and coordinating with schools and educational advocates to turn findings into real, meaningful support.

Since 2016, I've served as a Neuropsychologist at the Stamford Hospital Concussion Center, where I've evaluated and guided the care of children, adolescents, and adults recovering from concussions and traumatic brain injuries. I am a Credentialed ImPACT Consultant, reflecting specialized expertise in concussion assessment and return-to-school and return-to-sport decision-making.

Now I'm bringing my Columbia-trained expertise, my Stamford Hospital experience, and my deep commitment to children's well-being to my own practice — right here in Fairfield County.

"I truly love this work. And I would be honored to be part of your family's journey." — Dr. Jill Walker, Ph.D.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

A neuropsychological evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of how your child's brain functions across areas including intelligence, attention, memory, language, executive function, processing speed, academic skills, and social-emotional development. It uses standardized, validated tests to build a complete picture of your child's cognitive profile — their strengths and challenges — and to answer specific referral questions such as "Does my child have ADHD?" or "Why is my child struggling to read?"
School evaluations focus on educational eligibility and are conducted to determine whether a child qualifies for special education services. A private neuropsychological evaluation is broader, more comprehensive, and diagnostically focused. It evaluates the full range of cognitive and emotional functioning, can provide a diagnosis, explain the underlying reasons for academic difficulties, and offer specific recommendations for home, school, and clinical treatment.
Most comprehensive evaluations involve 1–2 testing days, each lasting 3–6 hours depending on your child's age, stamina, and the questions being addressed. The entire process — from intake to feedback session — typically takes 6–10 weeks.
Most children actually enjoy the evaluation experience. Dr. Walker works hard to create a warm, relaxed, and encouraging environment. Children are told only that they'll be working on "brain games" and activities with a doctor. Frequent breaks are built in, and children are never made to feel that they are failing. Many kids leave saying they had fun.
Precision Neuropsychology is a private-pay practice and does not accept insurance. Payment is due at the time of service. We are happy to provide you with a detailed superbill (an itemized receipt with the appropriate CPT codes) that you can submit directly to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. We encourage you to contact your insurance provider in advance to understand your out-of-network benefits for neuropsychological testing.
The feedback session is specifically designed to help you answer this question. Dr. Walker will walk you through exactly how to share the report with your child's school, how to use the recommendations with a therapist or physician, and what to prioritize first. You are never left with a report and no guidance.
The timing of concussion evaluation depends on your child's symptoms and recovery trajectory. Baseline evaluations are best done before any injury occurs. If your child has sustained a concussion, contact us and we will help you determine the most appropriate timing for an evaluation. Dr. Walker is a Credentialed ImPACT Consultant with extensive experience in concussion assessment.
Absolutely. Precision Neuropsychology serves children and adolescents through age 18 (and in some cases beyond, depending on the referral question). Dr. Walker has extensive experience with teenagers and understands the unique pressures and developmental considerations of adolescence.
